No 'in person' Sunday Worship services March 15th or 22nd
No 'in person' Thursday Recharge services March 19th or 26th
No 'in person' Sunday afternoon North Star service March 22nd

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I shared some important information with you regarding our worship services and ministries here at Dover First. At that time we had not made any changes to our worship schedule nor to our ministries.

After discussion with our Church Leadership Board, after careful consideration about what is taking place, and at the recommendation of our Governor and direction of our Bishop, we have made the decision to suspend our Sunday morning and Thursday evening worship services for 2 weeks, effective today. This includes our Sunday services on March 15th and 22nd, our Thursday evening services on Marth 19th and 26th, and our North Star worship service on March 22nd.

While we have not taken this decision lightly, we recognize that it is in the best interest of our church staff, our church family, our guests and visitors, and our communities.

We will be live streaming our Sunday morning services March 15th and 22nd on our Facebook page, and you can tune in to watch, sing, pray, hear God’s Word, and present your offerings online. We are still in discussion as to whether we will be live streaming our Thursday Recharge services, and will share more on that in the days to come. We will continue to share updates on our Facebook and Web pages, and I encourage you to check these pages often so you can stay informed and up to date.

I encourage each of us to continue to check in on those who may be homebound, hospitalized, or in nursing care, and share a card or letter with them, or even a phone call to let them know we are thinking of them, and praying for them. I also encourage us all to be in prayer for those impacted and affected by this virus, and for the doctors and scientists working hard on a solution to treat it. May God give them wisdom and guidance.

Friends, thank you for your patience and support as we make this difficult but necessary decision. We look forward to resuming worship in a couple weeks God willing, but most of all, we look forward to celebrating with you all on Easter Sunday, either in person or online, as we remember the resurrection of our Lord and Savior. We remember Psalm 56:3 which says; when I am afraid, I put my trust in You, and Jesus’ Words from Matthew 28:20; know that I am with you always, even until the end of the age.

Thank you for your time. I look forward to worshipping with you online Sunday, and again in person. May God continue to bless you.

Pastor Dave

Greetings in The Name of our risen Lord and Savior, Jesus The Christ

In light of all that has been taking place recently surrounding the Coronavirus, I wanted to share some information with you as to the steps and precautions we are implementing here at Dover First UMC. While re recognize that there may be some concerns around this virus, rest assured that we are doing all we can to make our facilities a safe and welcoming place.

First, I want to share that all of our ministries, classes, and worship services including our Thursday evening and Sunday morning services are still taking place as planned. If individual classes or ministries are cancelled or postponed we will announce them as soon as possible.

We have many different groups using our facilities on a weekly basis, and have increased our efforts to clean and sanitize our classrooms and meeting spaces each day.

One of our Life Groups has put together 'Healthy Together' kits that are located at the ends of each pews containing hand sanitizer, wipes, cough drops, and tissues for your convenience.

Hand Sanitizer is located throughout our sanctuary, lobby, welcome desk, and office, as well as in our kitchen, classrooms, and fellowship hall. Our restrooms are kept cleaned and sanitized and are stocked with soap and hand sanitizer.

We encourage everyone who enters to greet in a way that is comfortable for them, which may be a fist bump, and elbow bump, or even just a smile and a wave of hello. If you with to shake hands, know that there is plenty of hand sanitizer available throughout our facilities.

If you are not feeling well, we encourage you to stay home and avoid meetings, classes, or times of worship. We livestream our Thursday evening and Sunday morning messages, as well as the entire Thursday evening service. Previous Sunday morning messages are recorded and loaded on our app for you to listen to at any time. If you are not able to worship and are concerned about continuing your offering, you can give electronically through our app.

We will be looking at alternatives to our Sunday morning offering plate as well as communion, and will announce those changes as they become available.
As instructed by our local nursing homes, we have suspended visitation to those in our church family who are living in these homes. Although we cannot visit in person, we can still send cards of encouragement or even a phone call, so I encourage each of us to keep in touch with those from our church family living in nursing care or hospitalized.

Finally, I encourage each of us to pray, not as a last resort, but as the first thing we should be doing, for those impacted by this virus either through getting sick, losing time away from work, or uncertainty about what to do. Let us all continue to be the Easter People that Christ calls us to be, serving whenever and however we can, while remaining diligent in our self care and care towards others.

I pray that you have a blessed day today, and know that all are welcome here as you feel comfortable. God bless you all, and I look forward to seeing you soon.
In His Name, Pastor Dave
